Task 1 : Internet Safety Pre-Assessment

As a pre-lesson assessment each student will complete a true-false written activity based on aspects of Internet safety.

1. Distribute pre-assessment tool, Before the Web, and instruct students to complete pre-assessment independently.
   
   
2. Use assessment results to determine student's background knowledge prior to any further instruction. Record results on tracking sheet provided.
   
   
3. Compare results to post-assessment at completion of unit.

Adaptations

As an alternative to the written assessment provided, a modified tool making use of visual clues may be substituted for ESL/ESD and/or Exceptional Students.

Notes To Teacher

Be sure to preview video prior to commencing unit, and review all resource materials provided. Photocopy class set of the assessment tool, Before the Web, and the personal Internet dictionary, Word Web. Photocopy the tracking sheet provided for your own use. Book TV/VCR for viewing video "Caught in the Web" for use during class (total viewing time 18 minutes).
