Task 3 : Caught in the Web Post-viewing Activities

Suggested activities to support discussion, application and synthesis of Internet Safety rules introduced in the video "Caught in the Web".

After the viewing of the video, and sometime before the planned police officer visit, students will be engaged in applying what they know and learned about Internet Safety.

Post-viewing Discussion Questions

  • Has anything in the video happened to you or someone you know?
  • What scene in the video made you feel the most uncomfortable?
  • Whose fault was it that the family's house was broken into?
  • How could the family have been more careful about their use of the Internet?
  • If you were a parent, what rule would you want your kids to follow? (Make a list of the rules on the blackboard, or on chart paper)
  • Is there anything in the video that surprised you?

Post-viewing Activities

  1. Create an Internet Safety poster for people your age.
  2. Design an Internet Safety comic strip that communicates some of the rules that you have learned.
  3. Design a multimedia presentation based on the rules of Internet Safety.
  4. Create a brochure for your classmates on Internet Safety.
  5. Design a mouse pad that highlights some of the important rules of Internet Safety.

Notes To Teacher

The activities suggested may be completed by students within one class, or may be extended or coordinated throughout a grade or division for a collaborative school effort.

Ministry licensed software could be used to complete these activities.
