Crime of the Week - Brampton

Release #: 2008 - 02b

2 VARIETY STORES ROBBED BY SAME SUSPECT

A man armed with a gun is responsible for robbing two Brampton variety stores within a 30 minute period, and the investigators from the Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau are hoping the public can help identify the suspect.

On Wednesday January 9, 2008 at around 10:36 in the evening, the lone male suspect entered the Mac’s Convenience store on Peter Robertson Boulevard. Armed with a gun and his face covered by a bandana, he robbed the employee of a quantity of cash, and lottery tickets.

That same evening, around 10:50, it is believed that this same male suspect entered and approached the employee of the Hasty Market on Van Kirk Drive. Again armed with the handgun, he jumped the counter and ordered the employee to open the till. A quantity of cash was taken, and the suspect left the store, getting into a black, SUV style vehicle, fleeing the area.

The suspect in both of these robberies is described as:

Male, black, 5’8” to 5’10” tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a ¾ length dark, bomber-style jacket with a hood, black gloves and blue jeans.

Several surveillance camera photographs of the suspect are below.
